WHAT
Kybella is an injectable prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called "double chin."
HOW
Kybella® uses synthetic deoxycholic acid, a molecule naturally found in the body that helps break down dietary fat. When injected under the chin, it destroys fat cells, preventing them from storing fat and leading to a noticeable reduction in fullness for a more defined chin profile.
WHERE
Kybella is indicated for the submental area to treat "double chin".
WHEN
Your provider will create a tailored treatment plan. At each treatment, you will be given multiple small injections under your chin. You may receive up to 6 treatment sessions, spaced at least 1 month apart. Many patients experience visible results in 2 to 4 Kybella treatments.
SAFETY
The most common side effects of Kybella include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and firmness at the treatment site. While rare, more serious side effects such as difficulty swallowing, nerve injury causing temporary facial weakness, or tissue damage may occur.
