Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DOES FRACTIONATED CO2 LASER WORK?

A CO2 laser is a type of gas laser. Electricity is run through a gas-filled (carbon dioxide, nitrogen, hydrogen and helium) mirrored tube, stimulating the gas particles and producing an intense reflective beam of light.  A fractionated CO2 laser works by focusing microscopic beams of light into the skin in a grid pattern, targeting the top layer of the skin. The fractionation laser compared to traditional fully ablative lasers offer faster recovery and fewer side effects.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Because the laser targets water, a major component of the skin, it immediately vaporizes tissue when fired. Vaporized tissue removes brown spots, sun damage, textural concern such as pore size, scarring and crepey skin. The micro-wounds created by the laser stimulate a wound healing process that leads to collagen synthesis. Ultimately, this smoothens lines and tightens skin. Because there are small areas of “normal” skin between the micro wounds, healing is accelerated.

At Artistry Wellness Hawaii we offer three laser treatments options:

Secret Pro Ultra-Lite

Secret PRO Ultra-light is a CO2 gentle laser micro peel treatment that safely and effectively improves your skin tone and texture by gently resurfacing a thin outer layer of your skin. This treatment provides quality results that are tailored to your skin’s specific conditions. You’ll enjoy healthier-looking, refreshed skin, quickly and easily! Secret PRO Ultra-Light helps promote healthy skin and provides results for many common skin concerns, including; uneven skin tone and texture and overall complexion quality.

Secret Pro Ultra

The Secret PRO Ultra treatment utilizes CO2 laser energy to revitalize severely sun-damaged skin. The procedure is designed to deliver safe, effective, fractional skin resurfacing by treating multiple skin layers at the same time with precision and control. This single treatment provides long-lasting results customized to address your needs. This treatment reduces sun damage, improves skin texture, and promotes collagen production to reduce the appearance of scars and crepey skin through fractional skin resurfacing.

Secret Pro Revive

The Secret PRO Revive treatment combines CO2 laser energy with radio frequency (RF) microneedling to treat an incredible range of skin concerns all at once. While CO2 laser technology targets the outermost layers of the skin, the RF energy reaches into the deeper dermal layers. With the unique combination of these two technologies, your treatment can be customized to maximize the results of your specific aesthetic needs.

The combination of two technologies gives the Secret PRO Revive treatment the power to treat a wide range of conditions simultaneously. While the fractional RF microneedling penetrates deeper in the skin, the fractional CO2 laser resurfaces the top layers of the skin to improve the skin’s tone and texture. This combination treatment improves fine lines, wrinkles, scars, acne scars, stretch marks, skin texture, pore size, crepey skin, and sun-damaged skin.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?

Healthy patients with realistic expectations who are seeking total skin rejuvenation or treatment of scars from surgery or acne are excellent candidates for fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing. Patients with active inflammatory skin conditions may require treatment of these conditions before lasering, and those with very dark skin are not good candidates because of a risk of changing the skin’s native color.

WHAT AREAS CAN I TREAT?

Treatable areas include face, body/neck, stretch marks and scars.

HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?

Topical numbing cream is applied for 30 minutes before the treatment to minimize any discomfort. The procedure itself takes approximately 20-40 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Depending on your concerns, a single laser treatment or a series of treatments may be recommended. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive at least 3 sessions at 4-6-week intervals.
